veterinary news

mouse with hairResearchers at the University of California may have accidentally stumbled upon a cure for baldness!

They were using a group of bald mice for a study for a gastrointestinal drug.  Five days into the treatment the bald mice started to grow hair!  It is believed that the drug caused a blockage CRF (corticotropin releasing factor) receptors which lead to the hair growth.

The hope now is that blocking human CRF receptors may be able to reverse male pattern baldness and baldness from chemotherapy.

The drug may also prevent graying of hair.
