Diarrhea and pale gums in a kitten.

Species: Cat
Breed: tabby orange
Age: 3-6 months
My cat has dirra for about two week i have notice his gum is pale pink what should i do should contace my vet

Yes, it does sound like Squeeky needs to see his vet.

If his gums are pale then this likely means anemia. Anemia is due to losing blood or to the body not making enough blood cells.

In a young cat there are several possible reasons for anemia plus diarrhea:

  • A virus such as feline leukemia virus or FIV

  • Severe flea infestation.

  • Intestinal parasites such as hookworms or roundworms

  • A blood parasite called hemobartonella.



Kittens are not good at fighting dehydration so if he has had diarrhea for 2 weeks then this needs to be fixed soon!
